Renewal

Its been almost 7 years since the last blog. A lot of time for a person to grow and develop new interests and at the same time to review what has been constant over those years and cherish and develop those further.

So in no particular order of preference or logic here they go.

1. Communication style. I think my writing has become simpler and more to the point. This might also be due to the English being spoken around me, UK was a more verbose country as is India. Sweden tends to be more functional in the language and overall philosophy.

2. Its not London or Mumbai. Its Stockholm now

3. Running is still a passion, though watered down. Cannot remember the last time I did a 21 K ( Jan 2017 I think). Apart from that 5 km runs are the norm ,and that too maybe 3 times a week. Tried kickboxing which i loved and which loved me back. That was the fittest and slimmest phase in the last few years. Have started Yoga intermittently and hope to make this constant.

4. Urban gardening remains a passion , and it remains a theoretical. I still have to grow a single leaf of basil or a stalk of coriander. However, responsible sustainable eating, use of fresh herbs and a less carnivorous diet is a new direction in my thoughts. Also, I can whip out 3 meals for a day without skipping a beat ( Poha, Sabudana Khichadi, Chole....I am looking at you guys..yes, yes, we work well together)

5. Did I mention Yoga? ok

6. Minimalism, FIRE ( Financial Independence Retire Early) have helped give a thought, shape and framework to ideas I have been grappling with.

7. Writing..have rediscovered my love of reading, which in turn will again influence my writing. As of now, plan to churn out an article a week. Spend the week drafting, editing, researching and then finally publishing over the weekend

8. Quit smoking as on 27th Sept 2016 ..yes over 2 years since quitting as on date after 20 years of smoking.

9.  Finally, I believe to have grown as a person and also in  interpersonal relationships. Hopefully have become a more open, accepting and mature person, learnt to face difficult conversations and move on.

10. I sometimes feel as if the journey has just started and that is a damn exciting feeling.
